| Wall Mirror created with vintage silver & china |
Beginning with searching for the old china & silver pieces, then
mixing and matching the patterns and shapes, and finally embellishing the finished mirror, the process evolves over days and
sometimes weeks. Each step brings a different type of challenge and enjoyment. There is satisfaction not only in the completed
mirror, but in the fact that old pieces of china and silver retrieved from the discard pile are given a new purpose.
Often the intricate engravings or the delicate patterns are in themselves a treasure of timeless art to be preserved.
Mixed Media Art & Handmade Beaded Jewelry
Intricate designs using seed beeds are a favorite. The concentration
and time needed to stitch each tiny bead requires such concentration that one has to escape the world and its concerns.
Her father's watchmaking occupation relates to Linda's love of intricate detailed patterns and tiny pieces. The extraordinary
detail in some beads qualify them as miniature piece of art. A trip to the jewelry making district in the Czech Republic only
deepened Linda's fascination with the beauty of the Czech glass beads, both old and new.
